Insurance Cares Spring 2026 DEI on the RISE Scholarship Recipients
Insurance Cares Awards 10 DEI on the RISE Scholarships to Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Insurance Industry
Insurance Cares, a nonprofit organization born out of RISE’s DEI committee that is dedicated to providing equal access to insurance education through scholarships and free educational resources, is proud to announce the recipients of its fourth round of DEI on the RISE scholarships. These scholarships are designed to support diverse students pursuing careers in insurance by providing funds for tuition, books, and general day-to-day financial needs, as well as mentorship opportunities and access to the insurance community.
The DEI on the RISE scholarship recipients will be paired with mentors who will provide guidance and support as they navigate their careers in the insurance industry. Additionally, the recipients will gain valuable access to the insurance community through networking opportunities, paid internship opportunities within the insurance industry, attendance at industry events, and learning the fundamentals of insurance.
“Growing up in Vietnam, I often saw insurance viewed with skepticism. In many conversations, the word ‘insurance’ was associated more with sales than protection. Many people believed it meant someone trying to persuade them to buy something they did not fully trust or understand. However, I always believed insurance should represent something positive: protection and assurance. That contrast made me curious about how insurance works and how risk is managed,” says Quynh Anh (Annie) Vu, an Actuarial Science & Risk Management and Business Analytics student.
The future of insurance depends on fresh perspectives, sharp talent, and leaders who understand how to build trust in a changing world. Through the DEI on the RISE Scholarship, RISE is proud to support students who are already stepping into that future with ambition, resilience, and purpose.
As a double major with a 3.8 GPA, Annie is building a strong foundation in analytics, risk management, and communication. She has actively pursued opportunities to deepen her industry knowledge through conferences, competitions, and professional events, while bringing the perspective of an international student passionate about making insurance more transparent and accessible.
“I am especially interested in areas such as underwriting analytics, product development, and risk strategy. These roles require both strong technical thinking and the ability to interpret data in ways that support practical decisions. My goal is to continue developing both sides of that skill set through actuarial exams, industry internships, and hands-on analytics experience,” Annie shares.
Insurance Cares is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the insurance industry by providing support and opportunities to underrepresented communities. Through the DEI on the RISE scholarships, Insurance Cares aims to empower and uplift diverse students to excel in their insurance careers, contribute to the industry, and help create a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
